Sparking Theory

This sparking theory was a joint effort and collaboration by Silverrose, Zab Jade, and Crossfire.  Ideas were thrown back and forth, expounded upon, and tweaked in the early days of our RPG.

The Sparking Theory:

The general concept of our sparking method is that through prolonged touch(usually by two consenting Transformers engaging in some physical affection), the male uses electrical currents to transmit spark energy containing his personality information to the female.  The completion of this energy transfer automatically initiates the female’s sparking routine, which will mingle the male’s spark energy with her own, creating a new spark.  For about 4-6 earth weeks, depending on the needs of the spark and how fast it matures, it must reside in the female’s body as it requires her energy and electrical currents to nurture it until it is strong enough to sustain itself in its own bodyshell, which is the father’s responsibility to build.  The energy drain the spark places on the mother’s systems can at times be exhausting and the mother may find herself recharging more than normal.  During this time, the spark and its “mother” develop a telepathic bond so that the new spark can interact with her and learn about its external environment prior to being put in its own body.  This connection is broken once the new spark is placed in its own body unless either the spark or the “mother” is naturally telepathic or empathic.  Others can interact with the sparkling in much the same way if they are in physical contact with the mother; but generally unless that person is the sparkling’s father or immediate family, this practice is generally discouraged in order to prevent the sparkling from becoming overwhelmed.  The new sparkling has a fully adult intellect from the onset, but can seem childlike due to lack of life experience.  Thus, the parents are needed to guide the new Transformer for some time after it’s placed in its own body.

With this method, the female is also able to accept the information from two Transformers and merge their information, creating a spark between them and functioning as a “surrogate.” The “gender” of the other two Transformers is a non issue.

Prior to any touchy feely stuff with her partner, the female can temporarily disable her sparking routine if they have no desire to spark.

Weaknesses:

This procedure is not without drawbacks however.  If, for whatever reason, the new spark and the female lose telepathic contact before it is fully mature, the new spark can be emotionally traumatized, resulting in mild to severe psychological problems.
Also, any severe disruption to the female’s systems can restrict energy and electric flow to the spark, possibly resulting in its termination.

The Sparkling:

Prior to being placed in its own shell, the sparkling can learn much from its parents by asking questions and perusing its mother memory banks, knowledge, etc.  The mother can of course block anything she deems too private from the sparkling.  In general the sparkling will recharge quite a bit during this stage.

After being placed in its shell and personality depending, the sparkling may become somewhat clingy to its parents for some time due to the severing of telepathic contact from its mother.  Being in close physical proximity to the parents seems to be comforting for most sparklings; and the clinginess tends to diminish over a few weeks or months as the sparkling becomes more independent and confident on its own.
